Well, all hell has broken loose and we got our snow day. Lots and lots of heavy, wet snow has fallen, making travel pretty much impossible. Our district has a few schools that draw from outlying rural areas, which sometimes means that they call a late start or snow day more for them than for us city folk. Our community is also experiencing a bit of a crisis in that we are having to ration salt. As in, for the roads. To put on the ice so we don't all get killed to and from work and school.
On days like this, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning- so excited, I wake up extra early, only instead of rushing down to see what's been left in my stocking, I pad into the office and check online to see if our district has cancelled. There is some policy that states that the decision to cancel must be made before 5:30 am. Some districts already declared a 2 hour late start last night. Not ours. So, I woke up at around 4:30 and checked. Nothing. 5:00- still nothing. 5:45: Jackpot! Cancelled! Woo hoo! Mr. T works at a college and THEY cancelled, too. I crawled back into bed and slept until 9:00. What better gift than to HAVE to stay inside, all safe and warm and cozy with ALL of my family?
