yada yada yada

Parent conferences tonight. 27 conferences in 3 hours. Again, I am fried. Basically, this is how 90% of them go: "Blah blah blah.... does/doesn't do his/her work blah blah blah... study more for tests/does great on tests..... blah blah blah....pleasure to have in class..... blah blah.... needs to practice speaking Spanish outside of class... blah blah blah.... any concerns?".

Oh, and it was about 38 degrees warmer in Alaska than it was here today. Oh, to be in balmy Anchorage as opposed to the frigid Iowa today! It is so cold here that salt will not melt the inches and inches of ice that are all over everything. And, our city is pretty much out of salt anyway. How can they be out of salt? Crazy.

This is what it sounds like in New England, too:

Blah, blah, occasional flurries with the possibility of freezing rain and sleet; blah, blah, blah, schools closed AGAIN, blah, road conditions are hazardous, blah, man has heart attack shoveling driveway, blah, elderly woman slips on ice and breaks hip blah...

WHY don't we all live on the equator?!
